About the position

Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is recruiting a Simulator Technical Support Specialist. The successful candidate will join our East Coast training team and will be employed by Lockheed Martin, but will work on client premises. As a Simulator Technical Support Specialist, your main task will be to provide technical support during training activities using the Synthetic Environment Advanced Combat Operations Simulator (SEACOT) and the Synthetic Environment Advanced Warfare Operations and Leadership Facility (SEAWOLF) simulator in support of our Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) client. You will demonstrate flexibility in program needs and may be required to perform other assigned duties as part of training support. You will work both independently and with our on-site team to determine how to integrate SEACOT/SEAWOLF into training plans, with a focus on system and classroom configurations, as well as how to best use simulators to support training. An important component of this position is to resolve technical issues during training events. The Lockheed Martin personnel you will work with include system administrators, members of the Naval Tactical and Training Team Support (NTTTS) team, software developers, as well as support services staff and management teams.

Primary Responsibilities

Open, start, configure, shut down, and secure SEACOT/SEAWOLF
Ensure continuity of SEACOT/SEAWOLF training activities through rapid identification and resolution of software and hardware defects that negatively impact training
Support the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) by providing instructors with training integration support
Train new instructors on SEACOT/SEAWOLF operations and its various simulation modules and provide refresher courses to existing instructors
Support Lockheed Martin training personnel in the design and development of trainer training modules, training new instructors and Naval Tactical and Training Team Support (NTTTS) personnel, developing tutorials, and coordinating activities to meet client needs
Maintain a solid knowledge of simulator software modules and the Combat Management System (CMS) and their use in SEACOT/SEAWOLF
Provide versatile training to NTTTS on trainer support tasks to develop a redundant Lockheed Martin support capability
Record and communicate SEACOT/SEAWOLF simulation defects and areas for improvement
Perform regression tests on new installed versions

What you bring to the position

Accurate job description

Synchronize, review, and provide advice to Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and Department of National Defence (DND) personnel regarding SEACOT schedules with Naval Engineering Schools (NES), fleet schedules, and other key users, taking into account instructor resources, other contractual in-service support requirements, and Lockheed Martin requirements
Assist the team leader with SEACOT/SEAWOLF usage reports and other tasks, as needed
Prepare and organize SEACOT/SEAWOLF visits and demonstrations
Assist SEACOT/SEAWOLF system administrators as needed
Meet Lockheed Martin's annual audit and training requirements
Be flexible to changing client priorities and team work schedules, which will result in any combination of work during and beyond working hours, including semi-regular evening shifts or overtime
Report violations of trainer safety regulations.

Secondary Responsibilities

Assist NTTTS and RCN personnel in providing tactical control room support as needed
Work within a team including other tutorial developers, software engineers, media specialists, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop training products and tutorials.

Required skills, abilities, and experience

At least one year of experience in the field and may hold a higher education diploma or have completed training in a related discipline
Detailed knowledge and experience with simulators and Combat Management System 330 (CMS 330)
Experience with military trainers and synthetic training solutions
In-depth practical knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience in course planning, writing training material, and conducting training
Strong analytical and communication skills
Solid knowledge of computers, peripherals, and networks
Strong technical aptitude and ability to solve technical problems
Ability to work with minimal supervision and in compliance with current Lockheed Martin processes
Ability to obtain and maintain a “SECRET” security clearance from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Additional desired skills for the position

Recent experience or demonstrated ability to develop training documents and teach in a classroom
Experience with voice communications and naval maritime tactics
Previous RCN service in an operator professional group
Experience with the Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System [CFITES]
Being bilingual (English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese) would be an asset.
