Collins Aerospace is looking for a Site Quality Assurance Specialist who will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS). You will drive quality improvement and compliance with internal, contracted, and regulatory requirements. You will be part of the Mirabel Quality Engineering Organization, supporting all requirements related to the quality of sub-systems, and product-related services provided for the A220 GTF Nacelle.

This position is Onsite at Collins Aerospace - Mirabel location - Quebec - Canada

What You Will Do

  • Proactively support (and conduct as needed) AS9100, FAA/TCCA (Process/Product Conformity), Collins QMS, and customer Audit activities, to ensure compliance with requirements. Including coordination of the preparation work for the Audit Cycle.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives and third Party Certification Body Auditors.
  • Serve as key domain expert regarding understanding and applying aviation standards.
  • Maintain and Review Quality Site Level Procedures and Manuals (Quality Manual and Quality Policy Deployment).
  • Support the Material Review Board (MRB) and business operations from a Quality Standpoint in Non-Conforming material management process. Able to qualify as MRB PR and QA.
  • Must be able to qualify and obtain a Quality Control Stamp AS02 per Collins procedure EEP 1009.
  • Maintain and optimize the calibration recall system and stamp control databases.
  • Interpret data and calibration reports from applicable inspection tools or equipment.
  • Manage Flow Down of Customer, Collins, and Regulatory Requirements.
  • Ensure Quality Cardinal Rules Compliance.
  • Support Inspection department in properly documenting Non-Conforming Product Reports.
  • Lead multi-functional teams in problem resolution and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing practices, 8Ds and other critical thinking improvement methods for Customer complaints, findings and escapes with clear and concise reports to stakeholders.
  • Generate and maintain driver metrics and provide input for internal and customer meetings (CAB, Quality Review, Industrial Quality Reviews, Management Reviews, etc.).
  • Ensure on time completion of First Article Inspection Reports and act as an FAI Focal for the Mirabel Site.
  • Flexible to work occasionally on weekends as required by business needs (program ramping up).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by collecting, analyzing, and utilizing performance metrics at program, divisional, and company levels.
  • Promote and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain competitiveness and compliance.
  • Complete training and professional development to align with divisional and functional needs.
  • Create quality documents and support the development and post-development phases of the program, such as Quality Plans, Inspection Plans, Quality Test Procedures and Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Drive and maintain the implementation of APQP/PPAP and key characteristics in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering groups.
  • Perform other duties related to quality compliance.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years related Aerospace Manufacturing or Advanced degree in a related field
  • Experience in Aerospace Industry.

This position involves communicating, both verbally and in writing, with other Collins Aerospace technical and quality compliance teams located in the United States and with our sole customer and partner located in the United States. Based on an evaluation, we have determined that the duties of the Quality Assurance Specialist position require knowledge of English (written and spoken). We also determined that the English language skills already required of other employees do not permit the performance of English language skills tasks related to the Quality Assurance Specialist position due to its highly technical nature.

However, in Québec, Collins Aerospace limits as much as possible the number of positions for which it requires the knowledge of another language than French. Collins Aerospace solely requires proficiency in English where it is necessary for the performance of an employee’s duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) based on Aerospace industry (AS9100/AS9110, FAA, TCCA, EASA).
  • QMS auditor accreditation with proven experience will be preferable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerApps and Power BI.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools such as ETQ.
  • Curious with a bias for action.
  • Customer oriented mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Able to deliver presentations effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Experience driving successful performance of major subcontractors, suppliers and/or Inter Organization Transfers (IOTs) will be a plus.
