Summary
The Specialist, Aircraft Continued Airworthiness and Engineering is responsible for supporting continued airworthiness, technical compliance, engineering coordination and operational suitability of the aircraft fleet. The role ensures aircraft comply with the approved type definition, regulatory requirements, approved technical data and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform audits of technical records and acceptance assessments for aircraft undergoing integration.
- Support acquisition, entry-into-service and transition activities for aircraft.
- Review the technical condition of aircraft, records, modifications and configuration during integration.
- Coordinate technical acceptance activities with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Prepare technical records for imported aircraft and coordinate with ministerial delegates - maintenance (MDM).
- Support aircraft import activities and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Coordinate documentation and technical requirements related to aircraft import approvals.
- Assess approved technical data and technical modification approvals.
- Review repairs, modifications, STCs, engineering orders and technical instructions to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure technical documentation complies with the approved type definition and operational requirements.
- Conduct conformity reviews for AOMA acceptance certificates.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with aircraft type definition requirements.
- Monitor continued airworthiness and technical compliance of aircraft.
- Support audits and conformity assessments in continued airworthiness.
- Conduct operational capability audits of aircraft equipment and suitability assessments.
- Evaluate aircraft operational configuration and compliance with operational requirements.
- Provide technical support regarding aircraft capabilities and operational suitability.
- Support sales and aircraft management transactions from a technical and regulatory perspective.
- Provide technical assessment support related to acquisitions, transitions, leases and aircraft sales.
- Coordinate technical due diligence activities as required.
- Coordinate activities between the maintenance AMO, maintenance control, quality assurance, flight operations and external organizations.
- Liaise with OEMs, engineering organizations, regulatory authorities and approved maintenance organizations.
- Support technical investigations and operational initiatives related to engineering.
Requirements
- College diploma or technical training in aircraft maintenance, aerospace engineering, aviation management or a related field.
- Experience in continued airworthiness, engineering support, technical records management or maintenance control (TEA M1/M2 license preferred).
- Experience with aircraft technical documentation, engineering modifications and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in an operator environment regulated by the CARs.
- Business aviation experience considered an asset.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and continued airworthiness principles.
- Knowledge of aircraft certification basis, type definition requirements and approved technical data.
- Familiarity with STCs, engineering orders, repair approvals and aircraft technical records management.
- Understanding of maintenance tracking systems and aircraft technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills in English and French.
- Proficiency with computer tools.
- Customer service oriented.
