The Senior Control Systems Specialist will be responsible for designing, validating, and certifying control systems for gas turbine engines, including new product lines, derivative engines, and hybrid/new technology demonstrators. The successful candidate will develop system-level requirements for engine controls. During the engine/aircraft design phase, he/she will work with aircraft manufacturers to develop control system functionality.
He/she will work with a multidisciplinary team (performance, operability, safety/reliability, design disciplines, customer support, etc.) to match control system functionality against engine and aircraft requirements. The successful candidate must understand power plant dynamics and the ARP 4754A/DO-178C processes while preparing evidence to support the engine type certificate.
He/she will also work closely with suppliers to verify software and review test data for control system tests performed on simulations, on the engine, and on aircraft, and to investigate incidents occurring with our customers.
This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Longueuil, and performed exclusively on-site.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Define control system requirements in close collaboration with internal and external customers.
- Turn concepts into reality with P&WC’s software design teams and our suppliers, ensuring every requirement is interpreted and implemented correctly.
- Design and execute validation tests — test plans, simulation benches, engine tests, and flight tests.
- Decode test data and draw conclusions.
- Generate high quality certification reports for submittal to national and foreign airworthiness certification authorities.
- Drive the organization forward by integrating lessons learned into our processes.
- Support manufacturing and aftermarket to ensure a smooth transition of new products into production.
What do you need to be successful?
- The ideal candidate must have a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace) combined with 5 to 7 years of experience in control systems engineering or another field relevant to the role.
- Relevant experience with gas turbine engines and knowledge of FADEC are considered assets.
- Knowledge of ARP-4754A and DO-178C standards is desired.
- This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
