Why Join The Team?

The Senior Control Systems Specialist will be responsible for designing, validating, and certifying control systems for gas turbine engines, including new product lines, derivative engines, and hybrid/new technology demonstrators. The successful candidate will develop system-level requirements for engine controls. During the engine/aircraft design phase, he/she will work with aircraft manufacturers to develop control system functionality.

He/she will work with a multidisciplinary team (performance, operability, safety/reliability, design disciplines, customer support, etc.) to match control system functionality against engine and aircraft requirements. The successful candidate must understand power plant dynamics and the ARP 4754A/DO-178C processes while preparing evidence to support the engine type certificate.

He/she will also work closely with suppliers to verify software and review test data for control system tests performed on simulations, on the engine, and on aircraft, and to investigate incidents occurring with our customers.

This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Longueuil, and performed exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Define control system requirements in close collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Translate concepts into reality with P&WC's software design teams and our suppliers, ensuring that each requirement is interpreted and applied correctly.
  • Design and execute validation tests — test plans, simulation test benches, engine tests, and flight tests.
  • Decode test data and draw conclusions.
  • Generate high-quality certification reports for submission to national and foreign certification authorities.
  • Drive organizational progress by integrating lessons learned into our processes.
  • Support manufacturing and aftermarket operations to ensure a smooth transition of new products into production.

What do you need to succeed?

  • The ideal candidate must hold an engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, or aerospace) combined with 5 to 7 years of experience in control systems engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with gas turbines and knowledge of FADEC are considered assets.
  • Knowledge of ARP-4754A and DO-178C standards is desired.
  • This position is situated in a French-speaking work environment; however, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and comprehend daily documentation and technical terms originating from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with international clients, suppliers, or colleagues.
