The Avionics office in Marie-Curie, Montreal is Thales Group’s Centre of Competence for business and regional jet flight control systems is located at our Montreal – Marie Curie office. The team designs and integrates avionics suites, fly-by-wire flight control systems, SATCOM systems and other innovative concepts for the regional and business aircraft markets.

Senior Avionics IMA Specialist – Avionics IMA Senior Specialist

Montreal, QC (Hybrid) Full Time

Position Summary

The IMA (Integrated Modular Avionics) avionics specialist will participate in the design, integration, verification, and validation activities of IMA architectures for regional and business aircraft. They must ensure that the proposed architectures meet their functional, performance, and certification requirements.

Essential Functions

The main missions associated with the position are, as part of an integrated team, to:

  • propose innovative and breakthrough approaches around activities related to IMA architectures
  • design and verify IMA avionics systems in the laboratory on test benches and on board aircraft
  • specify platform needs for IMA avionics systems
  • configure IMA modules and produce associated configuration and interface management documents
  • support the client around analyses of existing and future IMA systems (support to the System Integrator and Functions Suppliers in the context of DO297)

As such, you:

  • carry out the definition work of aeronautical systems with regard to operational needs
  • specify the requirements applicable to the IMA platform
  • also verify that the system perfectly meets the operational requirements recorded in its specifications
  • support development teams on our IMA systems by providing system IMA expertise
  • participate in the analysis of technical problems and the search for solutions

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Knowledge in the aeronautical field with significant experience in integration and/or verification of avionics systems in relation to operational needs of at least 10 years
  • Knowledge of IMA, DO297, ARINC664 standard and ARINC653 standard
  • French spoken and written (able to write reports and communicate effectively)
  • English spoken and written (able to write reports and communicate effectively)
  • Good team spirit

This position requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, to interact, support and/or provide services to international clients, employees and/or partners, as well as foreign governmental authorities who do not speak French.
