Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is looking for a dynamic and curious individual to join our organization. This is an internship within the MB-DMI (Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection) team, which is part of the Quality organization.

MB-DMI is a strategic transformation initiative focused on implementing processes and technologies related to Model-Based Enterprise (MBE), integrating 3D model-based definition, digital manufacturing, and automated inspection into product definition, manufacturing, and quality assurance activities. This transformation utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as high-precision coordinate measuring machines, 3D scanning, computed tomography (CT), and other advanced metrology solutions. The initiative aims to significantly improve quality, delivery performance, manufacturing costs, and overall engine performance.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of MB-DMI solutions, notably the deployment of 3D scanning for engine part inspection. The role is dynamic and will allow the intern to tackle a variety of challenges.

What will your daily life look like?

Develop and industrialize elements of a 3D scanning methodology for complex engine parts, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of experts. The 3D scanning methodology includes tooling, scanning data acquisition programming, scanning measurement techniques, data analysis, and other related elements.
Write test plans, conduct tests, record results, and communicate them to the project team.
Support the development of various automation tools based on model-based definition technologies.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Enrolled in a Canadian university for the entire duration of your internship.
  • Able to work on-site in the province where you are hired, if applicable.
  • Pursuing studies in aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Software: MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, CATIA V5, PolyWorks.

Assets:

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure while managing competing and changing priorities.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.

This position takes place in a French-speaking work environment, however it requires a functional knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, blueprints, drawings, and technical terms that may originate from international organizations, as well as to write and occasionally communicate in English with international clients, suppliers, or colleagues.
