The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a Public Affairs Strategist and ICAO Coordinator to join our Public Affairs team based in Mirabel and Montréal (Québec, Canada), where you will act as the main strategic bridge between the Montréal office and the Government and Regulatory Affairs (GRW) team based in Toulouse.
You will be part of the Public Affairs Canada team responsible for strategically representing Airbus at ICAO, maximizing brand visibility during global summits, and advancing company leadership on critical environmental and safety initiatives.
The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.
Your role as Public Affairs Strategist and ICAO Coordinator will be to orchestrate Airbus’s end-to-end participation in key ICAO events, lead advocacy efforts, negotiate sponsorship agreements, and provide executive-level support to position Airbus as an essential industry partner. (Temporary contract - 12-month Maternity Leave Replacement from November 2026 to November/December 2027).
Your working environment:
The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is headquartered in Mirabel, in the greater Montreal area, where the vibrant city of Montreal is just a stone’s throw away. Known for its peaceful and safe environment, the region offers a high quality of life for younger or experienced professionals and families, perfectly balancing career opportunities and outdoor activities that makes it a truly special place to call home.
How we care for you:
- Financial rewards: Attractive salary and group insurance plan.
- Work / Life Balance: A hybrid working policy (based on operational needs), on-site cafeterias and a highly competitive holiday policy.
- Wellbeing/Health: On-site Medical Service, and access to a public shuttle service between Laval (Montmorency metro station) and Mirabel, and a carpooling application.
Your challenges:
- Orchestrate end-to-end Airbus participation in major ICAO events and key forums (GISS, Climate Week, Sim ICAO, ICF, ANC Talk, etc.) to ensure high-impact visibility for speakers and technical experts;
- Place key industry issues at the center of international debates, leading advocacy efforts on critical environmental issues (such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels - SAF) and Safety Promotion Culture;
- Negotiate ICAO sponsorship agreements and Airbus project-specific budgets to maximize return on investment;
- Act as the primary strategic bridge between the Montréal office and the Toulouse-based GRW team, ensuring seamless responsiveness and zero unaddressed technical/political requests;
- Lead high-priority initiatives such as the ICAO Safety Promotion Exhibition and coordinate multidisciplinary expert teams across Airbus, ICAO, and external partners;
- Build and consolidate strategic relationships with the ICAO Secretariat, ICAO Member States, and industry associations (ICCAIA, IATA, ACI, CANSO, etc.);
- Provide high-level strategic and operational support to the Head of Public Affairs Canada & Airbus Representative to ICAO (briefings, complex agenda management, ad-hoc executive requests).
- Serve as a vital local point of contact for Montréal site governance.
Your boarding pass:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (Public Affairs, Political Science, International Relations, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, etc.);
- Solid experience in public affairs, corporate diplomacy, government relations, or international strategic project management;
- Sharp political acumen and excellent negotiation skills (budget management, partnerships, sponsorships);
- Exceptional capability in managing complex international stakeholders (ICAO, ICCAIA, government delegations) with the ability to lead projects independently through influence;
- Assertive, proactive, and capable of structuring complex situations with a highly organized approach;
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical or political issues for executive leadership;
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude;
- Proficiency in collaborative suites (G Suite, Microsoft Office) and comfort with project management tools.
The position is split between Downtown Montréal and Mirabel, Québec.
Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
