Role:

The Supply Chain Supervisor assists the Procurement Manager in managing department operations. He/She helps develop and maintain a workforce with the key technical skills necessary to ensure the successful execution and delivery of company products and projects. In addition, the incumbent manages certain aspects of all department activities, including resource management, planning, reporting, processes, metrics and proposal support.

Responsibilities:

People Management

  • Supervise a team of buyer-planners;
  • Coordinate and supervise material planning and procurement activities according to established processes and performance indicators;
  • Provide coaching and training to buyer-planners and recommend additional training when necessary;
  • Participate in the recruitment process and performance evaluations of buyer-planners.

Program Management

  • Identify supply chain risks and issues related to programs or processes, analyze alternatives and develop viable recommendations;
  • Proactively communicate and escalate supply chain issues related to quality, delivery and cost;
  • Track the progress of the procurement process in the relevant sector;

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with preferred suppliers;
  • Identify, anticipate and manage inherent supplier risks;
  • Source and select suppliers capable of meeting the company's strategic needs;

Process Development and Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in various improvement and implementation mandates for new procedures;
  • Participate in and encourage the implementation of best practices in material planning and procurement that promote operational efficiency, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Participate in Operations vision-setting exercises and lead improvement initiatives
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.

Departmental Management

  • Assist the manager in department budget planning and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain and improve material planning, procurement and supplier management performance indicators.
  • Assist the manager in workforce planning, including reviewing and planning staff assignments and proposing solutions to conflicts and constraints.
  • Perform other duties as required, including but not limited to leading and supporting proposals and managing small projects or parts of projects.
  • Ensure supervision and proper application of and compliance with general company policies and processes by department staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
  • 10 years of experience in a procurement department
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in the production of space hardware
  • Good understanding of ERP planning logic and tools
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel
  • Superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills to manage changing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Sense of urgency and strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Bilingual spoken and written French and English (deals with suppliers outside Quebec).

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold a Level II (SECRET) security clearance and successfully pass the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) security assessment.
