As Production Supervisor – Tool Room, you will report directly to the Associate Director of the MED and Tooling Services sector which is part of the Longueuil Manufacturing Centre (LMC).

The Tool Room serves several P&WC locations and consists of a team of more than 50 machinists, toolmakers and inspectors. This department offers manufacturing, maintenance and repair services for custom tooling and gauges. Whether for the manufacture of parts, the assembly of engines or for test benches, the team's expertise allows us to offer multiple tooling solutions to meet the needs of internal customers. Stereolithography equipments, commonly known as 3D printing, are also present in the department to complement the services offered. You will be required to collaborate with different groups and partners in the organization.

Your main objective will be to oversee the day-to-day operations as well as manage the department's employees. You will also be required to actively participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and projects by encouraging the participation of employees. The mandates associated with the position are varied, enriching and related to various engine programs.

The position is full-time from Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Longueuil and is exclusively on site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations related to the manufacture, maintenance and repair of tools.
  • Address the prevention of health and safety incidents by actively promoting good practices and appropriate behaviours.
  • Ensure the achievement of key performance indicators (EHS, quality, delivery, performance, costs) and apply appropriate measures and solutions.
  • Communicate with production teams and support functions such as tool design, programming, logistics, maintenance, project management, suppliers, etc.
  • Hire, monitor training of employees and support team leaders.
  • Actively participate in initiatives aimed at reducing non-quality and increasing efficiency.
  • Facilitate change management and promote employee engagement.

What do you need to be successful?

  • DEC or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, including a minimum of 3 years as a supervisor.
  • French (fluent), English (functional).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts (5S, lean manufacturing, tier-meetings, gamba walks, visual management, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Comfortable working in an environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Be organized and able to multitask.
  • Understand the various production issues and have a sense of anticipation.
  • Team spirit, autonomy and ethical sense.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, programming and machining methods.Knowledge of logistics, planning tools and production monitoring (asset).
  • Knowledge of quality criteria and inspection processes (asset).
  • Good knowledge of ERP/MRP softwares such as SAP and ITDM (asset).

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, however it requires a working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with international customers, suppliers or colleagues.
