Role:

The Production Supervisor - weekend shift is responsible for the optimal flow of production activities and for coaching the work team to ensure that products are manufactured according to standards, technical specifications and quality requirements.

Tasks:

  • Leads different teams in relation to operations logistics and production
  • Reviews program requirements, constraint assessment and operational conflict resolution
  • Works actively to improve working methods and processes related to production
  • Advises program managers and hierarchical managers on problems of conflicting resource demands
  • Assigns production personnel based on the established production schedule
  • Acts as a coach, trains the staff in charge and actively participates in the development of their skills
  • Acts as the primary resource person for production employees
  • Monitors and accelerates the availability of resources, equipment and operations while respecting our quality standards
  • Adequately communicates relevant information and works to develop the autonomy and effective work of their team
  • Performs operations supervision tasks in the context of their specified areas and with knowledge of the company's collective agreements
  • In addition to supervising the direct employees of their group, the candidate will provide advice and support to the entire production team regarding their tasks, programs and production management
  • Communicates with program planning and control personnel to manage internal operations and mitigate risks
  • Acts as an interface and communicates with program managers and hierarchical managers regarding various problems related to received material, production or other
  • May act as a replacement for the production manager in case of absence or delegation
  • Acts as an interface and communicates with hierarchical managers as needed about critical failures and recovery plans and may participate in senior management's strategic resource initiatives in specified areas
  • Provides training and coaching to employees in the specified area of expertise and participates in their performance evaluation by assessing their performance and recommending areas for development
  • Conducts interviews with potential new employees and recommends candidates to the production manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations/production management, mechanical engineering, administration or related discipline is optional and an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in management/supervision/control (sensitive to quality, costs, schedule)
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in the production of space equipment is an asset.
  • Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP logic. Knowledge of planning, purchasing, finance and ERP system modules and understanding of the interrelationship of these modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a reliability status security clearance and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
