Role
The Production Supervisor - weekend shift is responsible for the optimal conduct of production activities and for coaching the work team to ensure products are manufactured according to standards, technical specifications and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead various teams related to operations logistics and production
- Review program requirements, assess constraints and resolve operational conflicts
- Actively work to improve working methods and processes related to production
- Advise program managers and senior managers on conflicting resource demands
- Schedule production staff according to the established production plan
- Coach and train assigned personnel and actively participate in developing their skills
- Serve as the primary point of contact for production employees
- Monitor and accelerate the availability of resources, materials and operations while meeting our quality standards
- Communicate relevant information appropriately and work to develop team autonomy and effective teamwork
- Perform operational supervisory tasks within assigned areas and in awareness of the company's collective agreements
- Provide guidance and support to the entire production team regarding tasks, programs and production management
- Communicate with planning and program control staff to manage internal operations and mitigate risks
- Act as an interface and communicate with program managers and senior managers regarding issues related to received materials, production or other matters
- May act as a production manager substitute in case of absence or delegation
- Participate in recovery plans for critical failures and may join senior management's strategic resource initiatives in specified areas
- Provide training and mentoring in the specific area of expertise and participate in performance evaluations, recommending development areas
- Conduct interviews with potential new employees and recommend candidates to the production manager
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in operations/production management, mechanical engineering, business administration or a related discipline is optional and an asset
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in management/supervision/control (quality, cost and schedule‑aware)
- Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in the production of space hardware is an asset
- Strong understanding of planning tools and ERP logic; knowledge of planning, procurement, finance and ERP modules and how they interrelate
- Advanced Excel skills
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset
- Experience in a unionized environment
Special Considerations
Selected candidates must obtain and hold a reliability security clearance and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
