Job overview
FTAI Aviation is seeking a driven Operations Supervisor to oversee shop floor activities and lead one or more operational departments. This role is critical in ensuring that production requirements are met, resources are optimized, and teams work safely and efficiently toward business objectives.
The Operations Supervisor will manage daily operations, support a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and customer commitments. This position may support activities across departments such as Cleaning, NDT, Inspection, Surface Treatment, Paint, Machining, Welding, Sheet Metal, or similar technical areas depending on business needs.
This position is for the afternoon/evening or weekend shift.
Responsibilities
- Oversee shop floor production and ensure alignment with customer orders, operational schedules, and business commitments.
- Optimize resource allocation to meet production requirements and organizational goals.
- Monitor departmental budgets and ensure alignment with corporate financial objectives.
- Enforce compliance with Quality standards, Training requirements, 6S practices, and Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies.
- Lead, support, and drive Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Address non-conformances and audit findings within required timelines.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management to team members and direct reports.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to optimize workflow and meet TAT (Turnaround Time) targets.
- Deliver on and exceed KPIs related to ES&H, Quality, Productivity, TAT, and Cost.
- Support the development of short-term and long-term business plans.
- Maintain constructive working relationships within a unionized environment (where applicable).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in operations management, Business, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a related field, preferably within manufacturing or technical environments.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience; experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in driving operational performance and achieving KPIs.
- Strong leadership, delegation, and team development skills.
- Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel required; Access an asset).
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
