We are looking for a Test Engineering Supervisor within our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office.

Role:

The Test Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the optimal conduct of testing activities and the coaching of the work team to ensure that products are tested according to standards, technical specifications, and quality requirements.

Duties:

  • Leads various engineering teams
  • Reviews program requirements, constraint assessment, and operational conflict resolution
  • Actively works to improve work methods and production-related processes
  • Advises program managers and line managers regarding conflicting resource demand issues
  • Assigns production personnel based on the established production schedule
  • Acts as a coach, trains subordinate personnel, and actively participates in the development of their skills
  • Acts as the main resource person for production employees
  • Monitors and accelerates the availability of resources, equipment, and operations while respecting our quality standards
  • Adequately communicates relevant information and works to develop the autonomy and efficient work of their team
  • Performs operations supervision tasks in the context of their specified areas and with knowledge of the company's collective agreements
  • In addition to supervising direct employees in their group, the candidate will provide guidance and support to the entire production team regarding tasks, programs, and production management
  • Communicates with program planning and control personnel to manage internal operations and mitigate risks
  • Occupies an interface role and communicates with program managers and line managers regarding various issues related to received material, production, or others
  • May act as a substitute for the production manager in case of absence or delegation
  • Occupies an interface role and communicates with line managers as needed regarding critical failures and recovery plans, and may participate in senior management strategic resource initiatives in specified areas
  • Ensures training and support for employees in the specified area of expertise and participates in evaluating their performance by assessing their performance and recommending development areas
  • Conducts interviews with potential new employees

Development, Updating, and Implementation of Processes:

  • Ensure proper application and compliance with general company policies and processes by department personnel.
  • Support the development and updating of department-specific policies, processes, work instructions, and standards, and ensure they are accessible to and respected by personnel.
  • Propose and lead new initiatives, or participate in Business Process Improvement (BPI) initiatives to improve department or overall efficiency.
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures and policies are respected and maintained.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering or a similar degree in an appropriate discipline, bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies involved in the production of space hardware is an asset.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the engineering/manufacturing field.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and leadership capabilities.
  • Professional aspirations to manage teams of people in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience or interest in developing skills in resource management, negotiations, risk management techniques, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP logic. Knowledge of planning, purchasing, finance, and ERP system modules and understanding of the interrelation of these modules.Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold a reliability status security clearance and successfully pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
