Role:

This is a fully qualified working level. Under the direction of more experienced technicians or technical staff/engineers, perform various tasks related to established methods and procedures. Work from written guidelines or general indications on devices and systems of medium to complex complexity. Advise, guide and train less experienced employees.

Tasks:

  • Assemble or modify test models and experimental setups from guidelines issued by higher-level technical staff.
  • Review engineering drawings and may suggest improvements.
  • Build special fixtures under the direction of higher-level technicians or technical staff members.
  • Research, recommend and obtain parts or components for testing and test setups.
  • Record data relating to test or experiment results and prepare reports.
  • Perform supervised tasks including installation, repair, testing and maintenance of devices, subsystems and systems.
  • Participate, as needed, in the development of various test plans and procedures.
  • Advise, guide and train less experienced employees.
  • Participate in the preparation of time and cost estimates while improving department productivity.
  • Participate in the programming and commissioning of automated equipment sequences using software made available to them.
  • Execute their work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
  • Perform other related tasks.

Tasks by Assignment: Must be able to perform level 9A tasks as well as the tasks below, depending on the assignment.

Mechanical Technician:

  • Perform tasks related to MGSE support.

Machinist:

  • Evaluate the time required to complete a part (Programming and Machining).
  • Demonstrate versatility by being able to use multiple types of machines.
  • Program machining sequences using software made available to them.

Alignment:

  • Perform alignment or adjustment using high-precision equipment on subassemblies or flight assemblies or tooling according to theoretical values or guidelines submitted by Engineering.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting and alignment of devices, subsystems and systems.
  • Calibrate and/or characterize various tooling and/or flight components as needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Possess relevant knowledge and experience according to the assignment.
  • Education: DEC or equivalent in mechanical engineering, aeronautics or a related field according to the assignment.
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Language proficiency level: Comfortable in spoken and written French. Knowledge of English is an asset.

Additional Qualifications by Assignment:

Machinist:

  • In-depth knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
  • In-depth knowledge of G-code CNC language.
  • Good knowledge of metrology.

Alignment:

  • Good knowledge of CAD software.
  • In-depth knowledge of Space Analyzer.
  • In-depth knowledge in metrology.

Comments / Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold a reliability status security clearance and successfully pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
