Salary: Based on experience — Aircraft Maintenance Technician: up to $44.67/hour

Air Canada is currently seeking energetic individuals for full-time permanent aircraft technician positions at its St. John's maintenance center.

Aircraft technicians are responsible for airframe maintenance and should have the following skills:

  • Ability to use appropriate tools, methods, techniques and equipment to perform aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand various schematics for maintenance troubleshooting and proficiency with computer and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong team spirit, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding work environment.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship program or at least four years of relevant industry experience.
  • Transport Canada M2 Aircraft Maintenance Technician licence (required).
  • Valid driver's licence (required).
  • Successful pre-employment exam, medical exam and security screening.
  • Availability to work evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Willingness to work nights (the permanent position offered with this posting is night shift; shift changes may be possible by seniority).
  • Ability to obtain an airside vehicle operator permit (required).
  • Restricted radio operator certificate (aviation).
  • Ability to pass Transport Canada security screening and obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
  • Must meet Air Canada medical requirements, including medical evaluation and drug and alcohol screening; must not be under the influence of intoxicants.
  • Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all transport security clearances and other applicable accreditations depending on the workplace.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country at the time an offer is made; obtaining work permits/visas is the candidate's responsibility.

Assets

  • Qualification on aircraft types operated by Air Canada.
  • Up-to-date security clearance.

Where qualifications are equal, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
