Air Canada is currently looking for dynamic individuals to fill permanent full-time aircraft technician or aircraft maintenance technician positions at its St. John's maintenance center.


Aircraft technicians / aircraft maintenance technicians are responsible for airframe maintenance and must possess the following skills:

  • ability to use appropriate tools, methods, techniques, and equipment for aircraft maintenance;
  • ability to read and understand various schematics for maintenance troubleshooting and proficiency in computer and diagnostic tools;
  • good team spirit, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a highly demanding work environment.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship program or at least four years of relevant industry experience
  • Transport Canada M2 Aircraft Maintenance Technician License (mandatory)
  • Valid driver's license (mandatory)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment examination, physical examination, and security check
  • Availability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to assume the night shift (this is the permanent position offered with this posting; possibility of changing shifts based on seniority)
  • Ability to obtain an airside vehicle operating permit (mandatory)
  • Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (Aviation)
  • Ability to pass Transport Canada security screening and obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) (see Transport Canada website for details)
  • Employees in this safety-critical position must meet Air Canada medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol test, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transport security clearances and other additional accreditations, depending on the workplace. Please refer to the Transport Canada website for more details.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country concerned at the time the job offer is made. The search for any necessary work permits/visas or other authorizations is the sole responsibility of candidates for this position.
