Air Canada is currently looking for dynamic individuals to fill permanent full-time positions as Structural and Sheet Metal Technicians at its Toronto maintenance center.

Job Description:

• You will be responsible for structural repairs and modifications of aircraft and performing work related to service bulletins. This work will be performed using technical specifications, manuals, or drawings.
• Perform and certify sheet metal and composite repairs on aircraft components
• Perform and certify sheet metal and composite repairs on company and/or contractor aircraft;
• Plan, coordinate and execute the work;
• Perform required inspections, evaluations, and MRs;
• Resolve material, tooling, and engineering issues affecting the plan;
• Estimate and define planned repairs;
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to ATs and other AMTs;
• Coordinate and supervise the assignment of maintenance personnel to maximize production flow with TLs, planners, other AMTs, and personnel, as needed.
• Sign Maintenance Authorizations (MAs) for unauthorized personnel and sign for personnel not directly assigned to the work group on an ad hoc basis.
• Perform General Visual Inspections (GVI), Detailed Visual Inspections (DVI), conformity inspections, self-checks, and Required Inspection Items (RII);
• Sign defects according to defined standards;
• Ensure supervision and management of defects;
• Complete and verify all technical records and data entries for all work performed;
• Ensure AW and safety policies, processes, and standards are followed;
• Mentor, train, and guide maintenance personnel;
• Ensure adequate work handover information is provided to Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) personnel and the next shift team;
• Ensure the workplace is safe and tidy.
• Familiarity with Transport Canada and company manuals and documents;
• Ability to read the Structural Repair Manual.
• Ability to obtain an airside vehicle driver's permit;
• Other related duties, as required.

Qualifications

• You must be a graduate of a Transport Canada approved school in the structures program and/or have experience working on aircraft in sheet metal and/or composite materials.
• Possess a Transport Canada (MOT) “S” Structures license, or be working towards obtaining an “S” license and be able to obtain it.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and manage/prioritize multiple projects.
• Be available to work day, evening, or night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to pass a security clearance and obtain a Transport Canada (MOT) security card. Please refer to the Transport Canada website for more details.
• Great flexibility and adaptability.
• Ability to effectively resolve problems and conflicts.
