Air Canada is currently seeking energetic individuals to fill permanent full-time positions as Structures and Sheet Metal Technicians at its Montreal maintenance center.
Role description
- You will be responsible for structural repairs and modifications of aircraft and for performing work related to service bulletins. Work will be carried out using technical specifications, manuals or drawings.
- Perform and certify sheet metal and composite repairs on aircraft components.
- Perform and certify sheet metal and composite repairs on Company and/or contractor aircraft.
- Plan, coordinate and execute work.
- Perform required inspections, assessments and maintenance releases (MR).
- Troubleshoot material, tooling and engineering issues affecting the plan.
- Estimate and define planned repairs.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to Aircraft Technicians (AT) and other TEAs.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff assignments to maximize production flow with TLs, planners, other TEAs and personnel as required.
- Sign maintenance authorizations (MA) for non-authorized personnel and sign for personnel not directly assigned to the workgroup on an ad hoc basis.
- Perform general visual inspections (GVI), detailed visual inspections (DVI), compliance inspections, self-checks and required inspection items (RII).
- Sign off defects according to defined standards.
- Supervise and manage defects.
- Complete and verify all technical records and data entries for work performed.
- Ensure airworthiness and safety policies, processes and standards are followed.
- Coach, train and mentor maintenance personnel.
- Ensure adequate job-transfer information is provided to Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) staff and to the next shift team.
- Ensure the workplace is safe and tidy.
- Be familiar with Transport Canada and company manuals and documents.
- Ability to read the Structures Repair Manual.
- Ability to obtain an airside vehicle driving permit.
- Other related duties as required.

Qualifications
- Graduate of a Transport Canada–approved school in the structures program and/or experience working on aircraft in sheet metal and/or composite materials.
- Possess a Transport Canada "S" (Structures) licence (MOT), or be working toward obtaining an "S" licence and be able to obtain it.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and manage/prioritize multiple projects.
- Availability to work day, evening or night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to pass a security clearance and obtain the Transport Canada security card (MOT). Please refer to the Transport Canada website for details.
- High flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to effectively resolve problems and conflicts.
- Motivated and enthusiastic team player.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
