Air Canada is currently seeking energetic individuals to fill the full-time Aircraft Technician role at our Calgary maintenance centre. The position is located near Calgary International Airport. Salary will be based on experience and as per the collective agreement.

Responsibilities and skills

Aircraft technicians are responsible for airframe maintenance and must have the following skills:

  • Ability to use appropriate tools, methods, techniques and equipment required to perform aircraft maintenance
  • Able to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting and proficient with computers and diagnostic tools
  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment
  • Able to work independently using phone and computer resources; self-motivation and confidence are assets

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Completed recognized apprenticeship program and/or at least 2 years of industry experience
  • Possession of a Transport Canada AME-E licence (required)
  • Valid driver's licence (required)
  • Ability to successfully pass the pre-employment qualification exam, a physical examination and security screening
  • Availability to work nights, evenings and days, including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Ability to pass and obtain a runway-side vehicle driver permit (required)
  • Possession of a restricted radio operator’s certificate (aviation)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all transport security clearances and other applicable accreditations
  • Punctuality and reliability to support team success in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates for this safety-sensitive role will undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing, and must be free of intoxicating substances
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country at the time the offer is made; obtaining work permits/visas is the candidate's responsibility

Selection will be conducted in accordance with Letter of Understanding 13 of the current collective agreement.
