Air Canada is currently seeking dynamic individuals to fill a full-time Aircraft Maintenance Technician position at our Vancouver maintenance centre. The position is located near Vancouver International Airport. Pay will be based on experience and the collective agreement.

Aircraft technicians are responsible for airframe maintenance and must have the following skills:

  • Ability to use the correct tools, methods, techniques and equipment required to perform aircraft maintenance
  • Ability to read and understand various schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and proficiency with computers and diagnostic tools
  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work independently using resources by telephone and computer; self-motivation and confidence are assets

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program and/or at least 2 years of industry experience
  • Possession of a Transport Canada AME-E licence (required)
  • Valid driver's licence (required)
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment qualification exam, a medical exam and a security check
  • Availability to work nights, evenings and days, including weekends and public holidays
  • Ability to pass and obtain a ramp/airside vehicle operator permit (required)
  • Possession of a restricted radio operator certificate (aviation)
  • Able to obtain and maintain transport security clearances and any other applicable accreditations
  • Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
  • Positions have Air Canada medical standards; candidates will undergo medical assessment including drug and alcohol screening
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the country where the job is offered at the time of the offer; obtaining work permits/visas is the candidate's responsibility

Selection will be made in accordance with Letter of Agreement 13 of the current collective agreement.
