Air Canada is currently seeking a motivated person to fill a permanent full-time position as a ground support equipment mechanic.
The ground support equipment maintenance specialist must:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs safely on various types of equipment used in airport ground operations, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Have good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal fabrication and welding is an asset.
- Be able to read and understand troubleshooting diagrams and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
- Possess teamwork and written and verbal communication skills; be customer-focused and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma.
- Possession of a provincial endorsement or valid licence as an automotive service technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck and coach service technician as recognized by the provincial authority or the interprovincial Red Seal certification.
- At least one (1) year of trade-related experience.
- Pass the pre-employment qualification exam.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
- Employees in this safety-critical role must meet Air Canada medical requirements, including a medical assessment and drug and alcohol screening.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the country where the job is offered; obtaining work permits, visas or other required authorizations is the candidate's responsibility.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain transport security clearances and any additional applicable accreditations (see Transport Canada for details).
Assets
- Interprovincial Red Seal certification preferred but not required.
- Certificate or licence for advanced tuning of fuel injection and diesel engines.
- Certificate or licence in air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Certificate or licence for propane circuits.
- Certificate or licence for vehicle inspection.
- Experience maintaining mobile power units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cfm); maintenance experience on agricultural or heavy equipment will also be considered.
- Current security clearance.
Language requirements
Where qualifications are equal, bilingual candidates will be given preference.
