Air Canada is currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a Mechanic - Ground Equipment.

The Ground Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs safely for various types of equipment used in airport ground operations, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal fabrication, and welding is an asset.
  • Be able to understand various troubleshooting diagrams and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
  • Be a team player with written and oral communication skills; customer-focused and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Holder of a CPA competency card: mechanic level 1, 2 or 3
  • Possession of a valid provincial annotation or license as an automotive maintenance technician, heavy equipment mechanic or truck and bus maintenance technician, as recognized by the competent provincial authority or by the Interprovincial Qualification Certificate program (Red Seal).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
  • Successfully pass the pre-employment qualification examination.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employees in this safety-critical position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible.
  • Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol screening, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the chosen country at the time a job is offered to them. It is solely the responsibility of applying employees to obtain the work permits, visas or any other authorizations required for the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all transport security clearances and other applicable additional accreditations. Please refer to the Transport Canada website for more details.

Assets

  • Interprovincial qualification (Red Seal) desired, but not mandatory
  • Certificate or license in advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tuning.
  • Certificate or license in air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Certificate or license in propane circuits.
  • Certificate or license in motor vehicle inspection.
  • Experience in maintaining mobile fleet units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cfm), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
  • Up-to-date security clearance
