Air Canada is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a ground equipment mechanic.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs safely on various types of equipment used in airport ground operations, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Good knowledge of powertrain groups and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal fabrication and welding is an asset.
- Able to read various troubleshooting diagrams and proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
- Team player with written and verbal communication skills; customer-focused and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Holds a CPA competency card: Mechanic Level 1, 2 or 3.
- Possession of a valid provincial trade credential or license as an automotive service technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck and coach technician, as recognized by the relevant provincial authority or the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal program.
- At least one (1) year of trade experience.
- Successful completion of the pre-employment qualification exam.
- Punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Employees in this safety-critical role must meet Air Canada medical requirements.
- Candidates will undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the chosen country at the time an offer is made; it is the applicant's responsibility to obtain required work permits, visas or other authorizations.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain transport security clearances and other applicable accreditations.
Assets
- Interprovincial Red Seal certification preferred but not required.
- Certificate or licence in advanced tuning of fuel injection and diesel engines.
- Certificate or licence in air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Certificate or licence for propane systems.
- Certificate or licence in vehicle inspection.
- Experience maintaining mobile power units (generators), air conditioning units (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cfm); experience with agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
- Current security clearance.
Language requirements
Where qualifications are equal, bilingual candidates will be given preference.
