Air Canada is currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a Ground Equipment Mechanic.
The Ground Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:
- Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs in a safe manner for various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal product fabrication, and welding is an asset.
- Must be able to understand various troubleshooting schematics and be proficient in IT and diagnostic tools.
- Must be a team player with written and oral communication skills; customer-oriented and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Holder of a CPA competency card: mechanic level 1, 2, or 3
- Holding a valid provincial endorsement or license as an automotive service technician, heavy duty equipment mechanic, or truck and coach service technician, as recognized by the competent provincial authority or the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program.
- At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
- Successfully pass the pre-employment qualification exam.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Employees occupying this safety-sensitive position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible.
- Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol screening, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
- Candidates must have the right to work in the chosen country at the time a job offer is made. It is entirely the responsibility of applying employees to obtain the work permits, visas, or any other authorizations required for the position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transportation security clearances and other additional accreditations. Please refer to Transport Canada's website for more details.
Assets
- Interprovincial qualification (Red Seal) desired, but not mandatory
- Certificate or license in advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-up.
- Certificate or license in air conditioning and refrigeration.
- Certificate or license in propane systems.
- Certificate or license in motor vehicle inspection.
- Experience in the maintenance of mobile power units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cu ft/min), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
- Up-to-date security clearance
