JOB PURPOSE:
The structure technician or sheet metal worker works within the aircraft maintenance team responsible for performing structural repair and modification, as well as sheet metal fabrication to replace damaged aircraft parts and flight control surfaces.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair, replace and rebuild aircraft structure (i.e. wings and fuselage) to varying degrees of difficulty, using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment (i.e. sheet metal bending and shearing equipment, welding equipment, riveting gun and drills);
- Apply the expertise required to perform structural repairs and modifications and apply full technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems;
- Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair or replacement of defective or damaged components;
- Perform damage assessment for engineering;
- Work closely with the team leader to ensure work is completed on schedule;
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with Skyservice standards, policies and procedures and applicable regulations (Transport Canada, etc.);
- Order parts and supplies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in sheet metal work;
- Aviation related experience is an asset;
- S license considered an asset;
- Valid AVOP (D/A or D) and radio license;
- Valid Transport Canada M category license is considered an asset;
- Knowing how to operate welding and brazing equipment is an asset;
- Able to work under pressure, and adapt quickly to changes and flexible shifts;
- Attention to detail and safety conscious in all procedures;
- Good communication skills and a good team spirit.

- Diploma in structure or sheet metal work or equivalent.
