JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Structural Technician or Sheet Metal Worker works within the aircraft maintenance team, which is responsible for performing structural repairs and modifications, as well as sheet metal fabrication to replace damaged aircraft parts and flight control surfaces.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures (i.e., wings and fuselage) at varying degrees of difficulty, using hand tools, power tools, machinery, and equipment (i.e., sheet metal bending and shearing equipment, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills);
- Apply required expertise to perform structural repairs and modifications, and apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems;
- Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing defective or damaged components;
- Perform damage evaluations for engineering;
- Work closely with the team leader to ensure that work is completed on schedule;
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with Skyservice standards, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations (Transport Canada, etc.);
- Perform parts and supplies ordering.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- A minimum of five (5) years of sheet metal experience;
- Experience related to aviation is an asset;
- S License considered an asset;
- AVOP (D/A or D) and valid radio license;
- Valid Transport Canada Category M license is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of operating welding and brazing equipment is an asset;
- Able to work under pressure, and quickly adapt to changes and flexible shifts;
- Attention to detail and safety-conscious in all procedures;
- Good communication skills and a good team player.
EDUCATION:
- Diploma in structures or sheet metal or equivalent.
