Summary
Includes employees responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, repair, modification, installation and functional testing of all types of radio, radar, cabin management and other navigation systems and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and install interconnecting wiring between major units, remote controls and indication devices, and be able to interpret technical drawings.
- Be familiar with standard avionics installations, practices, materials and manuals related to avionics systems and installations.
- Assist in removing and reinstalling interior furnishings and perform minor interior repairs on the aircraft as required by expertise.
- Licensed avionics technicians may be required to certify the avionics installation using the company-issued ACA, where applicable.
- Inspect components, parts, units and materials to ensure conformity with Transport Canada/FAA/EASA airworthiness standards and company standards; may be required to follow a company-approved apprenticeship program and be responsible for conformity of manufactured components and interior furnishings.
Requirements
- Trade school diploma and/or completion of an appropriate apprenticeship program OR college diploma in avionics or equivalent.
- 2 years of professional experience resulting in thorough knowledge of AC-DC electronic theory, aircraft audio systems, communication and navigation equipment (including pulsing techniques), and/or autopilot and/or flight control systems, applicable civil aviation regulations and the expertise required to perform tasks corresponding to their classification.
- Holding an avionics "E" licence is an asset (or M1/M2).
- Certification: YUL AVOP and IRAC to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
- Ability to lift at least 32 lb overhead.
- Shifts: must be comfortable working from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, fully autonomous and accountable.
- Location: Preference for candidates already located near YUL. Other candidates must be willing to relocate prior to the start of the first shift and be able to do so.
