Summary

Includes employees engaged in the servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, installation and functional testing of all types of radio, radar, cabin management and other types of navigation systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, install interconnect wiring between main units, remote controls and indicating devices, and be able to interpret technical drawings

• Technicians must also be familiar with standard avionics installations, practices, materials and manuals relating to avionics systems and installations

• Avionics technicians must also assist in removing and reinstalling any interior furnishings and must also perform minor repairs to the interior of the aircraft based on their expertise

• Licensed avionics technicians may be required to certify the avionics installation using the ACA issued by the company, where applicable

• Employees in this category may also be engaged in the inspection of components, parts, units, materials to ensure compliance with Transport Canada/F.A.A./E.A.S.A airworthiness standards, company standards and may be required to follow a company-approved apprenticeship program. As such, they may also be responsible for the conformity of manufactured components and interior furnishings

Requirements

• Diploma from a trade school and/or an appropriate apprenticeship program OR college diploma in avionics or equivalent

• 2 years of professional experience leading to a thorough knowledge of AC-DE electronic theory, aircraft audio systems, communication and navigation equipment, including pulsing techniques, and/or autopilot and/or flight control systems, applicable civil aviation regulations and the expertise required to perform duties corresponding to their classification

• Holding an "E" avionics license is an asset (or M1/M2)

• Certification: YUL AVOP and RAIC obtained within the first 6 months of employment

• Ability to lift at least 32 lbs overhead

• Shifts: must be comfortable working from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., fully autonomous and responsible

• Location: Preference for candidates already located near YUL. Other candidates must be willing to relocate before the start of the first shift and be able to do so.
