Summary

Includes employees responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, installation and functional testing of all types of radio, radar, cabin management and other types of navigation systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, install interconnect wiring between main units, remote controls and indicating devices, and be able to interpret engineering drawings

  • Technicians must also be familiar with standard avionics installations, practices, materials, and manuals relating to avionics systems and installations

  • Avionics technicians must also assist in the removal and reinstallation of any interior furnishings and shall also perform minor repairs to the interior of the aircraft based on their expertise

  • Licensed avionics technicians may be required to certify the avionics installation using the company-issued ACA where applicable

  • Employees in this category may also be engaged in the inspection of components, parts, units, materials to ensure they conform to Transport Canada/F.A.A./E.A.S. A, company airworthiness standards and may be required to follow a company-approved apprenticeship program. As such, they may also be responsible for the compliance of manufactured components and interior furnishings

Requirements

  • Graduation from a trade school and/or an appropriate apprenticeship program OR college diploma in avionics or equivalent

  • 2 years of professional experience leading to a thorough knowledge of AC-DC electronic theory, aircraft audio systems, communication and navigation equipment, including pulse techniques, and/or autopilot and/or flight control systems, applicable civil aviation regulations, and the expertise necessary to perform the duties corresponding to their classification

  • Holder of an "E" avionics license is an asset (or M1/M2)

  • Certification: YUL AVOP and RAIC obtained within the first 6 months of work

  • Ability to lift at least 32 lbs overhead

  • Shifts: must be comfortable working from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, fully autonomous and responsible

  • Location: Preference for candidates already established near YUL. Other candidates must be willing and able to relocate before the start of the first shift.
