RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the certification and/or inspections of the aeronautical products assigned to them within the scope of their competencies
- Carry out the procedures contained in the maintenance control manual;
- Review work orders to determine the type of test required, the procedures to follow and the acceptance criteria for a part;
- Determine the test equipment parameters based on the metal type, thickness, equipment distance and related variables, using standard formulas;
- Calibrate test equipment, such as magnetic particle, X-ray and ultrasonic contact machines, according to standard settings, following the manual instructions;
- Install equipment to perform tests and conduct tests on parts following established procedures depending on the tests performed;
- Inspect treated surfaces of materials during penetrant and magnetic particle tests to locate and identify cracks or other defects, using fluorescent light;
- Evaluate test results against designated standards, using knowledge of metals and experience with the test(s);
- Prepare reports describing the results and conclusions;
- Within their field of competence, perform the duties of the Lead Technician, NDT in their absence;
- Perform all other tasks that may be assigned by the NDT Service Manager, NDT, Supervisor, NDT or Lead Technician, NDT.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
- Have at minimum the ONGC or NAS 410 training and have successfully obtained Level II certifications in four (4) NDT methods: Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II, Eddy Current (ET) Level II, Penetrant Testing (PT) Level II, Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Level II;
- Possess a quality assurance background, an asset;
- Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Able to use a wide range of tools and instruments;
- Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally;
- Have good vision and color perception;
- Understand health and safety issues;
- Possess a valid driver’s license;
- Occasional travel is required.
EDUCATION :
- Possess a technical diploma from a recognized institution in aviation and/or nondestructive testing.
