Summary

Includes employees responsible for inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, installation and functional testing of all types of radio, radar, cabin management and other navigation systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install interconnecting wiring between major units, remote controls and indication devices, and be able to interpret technical drawings.
  • Technicians must also be familiar with standard avionics installations, practices, materials and manuals related to avionic systems and installations.
  • Avionics technicians must also assist in removing and reinstalling interior furnishings and perform minor interior repairs to the aircraft within their expertise.
  • Licensed avionics technicians may be required to certify avionics installations using the company-issued ACA, where applicable.
  • Employees in this category may also be engaged in the inspection of components, parts, units and materials to ensure compliance with Transport Canada/FAA/EASA and company airworthiness standards, and may be required to follow a company-approved apprenticeship program. Accordingly, they may also be responsible for the conformity of manufactured components and interior furnishings.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a trade school and/or an appropriate apprenticeship program OR a college diploma in avionics or equivalent.
  • 2 years of professional experience leading to a thorough knowledge of AC/DC electronic theory, aircraft audio systems, communication and navigation equipment including pulse techniques, and/or autopilot and/or flight control systems, applicable civil aviation regulations and the expertise necessary to perform tasks corresponding to their classification.
  • Holding an 'E' avionics license is an asset (or M1/M2).
  • Certification: YUL AVOP and IRAC to be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to lift at least 32 lb overhead.
  • Shifts: must be comfortable working from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, fully autonomous and accountable.
  • Location: Preference for candidates already located near YUL. Other candidates must be willing to relocate before the start of the first shift and be able to do so.
