As an industrial engineering technician at Rheinmetall Canada, your main responsibilities will include the layout of production workspaces (individual and collective), as well as selecting the best techniques and working processes or equipment (tools and machines). You will actively contribute to establishing health and safety standards and programs and to training employees on some of these issues.

Reporting directly to the production supervisor, the industrial engineering technician plays an important role in optimizing production processes and improving the operational efficiency of this department.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop project cost estimates for all resources (time, materials, space, labour) associated with various aspects of production or production engineering.
  • Identify and assess risks in the workplace.
  • Participate in the implementation of new technologies, new equipment or new production processes and work methods.
  • Monitor employees' skills regarding safety and process or method optimization.
  • Develop training materials and deliver sessions to raise awareness and train staff on health, safety, efficiency and work methods.
  • Prepare plant layouts, plans and specifications for installations or workspaces related to production.
  • Conduct analyses and evaluations of processes and work methods with a view to improving efficiency and quality.
  • Search for, collect, compile and analyze data and collaborate in the preparation of bids, assessments, scheduling, specifications and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

  • Degree in industrial engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in production cost estimation and workspace layout.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with different departments and management levels.
  • Skills in data analysis and use of production management software.
  • Proactivity and the ability to propose innovative solutions.
