As an industrial engineering technician at Rheinmetall Canada, your main responsibilities will be the layout and/or optimization of production workspaces (individual and collective), as well as the selection of the best work techniques and processes or equipment (tools and machines). He/She actively contributes to the implementation of health and safety standards and programs. Production processes and improving the operational efficiency of this department.

Reporting directly to the production director, the industrial engineering technician plays an important role in optimizing production processes and improving the operational efficiency of this department.

Here are your main responsibilities:

  • Develop project cost estimates for all resources (time, material, space, labor) associated with various aspects of production or production engineering.
  • Identify and assess risks in the workplace.
  • Participate in the implementation of new technologies, new equipment, or new processes and work methods in production.
  • Monitor employee competencies regarding safety and process or method optimization.
  • Develop training materials and lead sessions to raise awareness and train personnel on certain aspects of health, safety, efficiency, and work methods.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for the layout of the plant, facilities, or workspaces related to production.
  • Conduct analyses and evaluations of work processes and methods with a view to improving efficiency and quality.
  • Search, gather, compile, and analyze data and collaborate in the preparation of bids, evaluations, programming, specifications, and reports.
  • DEC in industrial engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles such as the Toyota Production System (TPS) and Six Sigma.
  • Prior experience in production cost estimation and workspace layout.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards in Quebec.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with different departments and hierarchical levels.
  • Data analysis skills and use of production management software.
  • Proactivity and ability to propose innovative solutions.
