What your day will look like

General responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and rework operations on engine part components and detail assemblies.
  • Set up, operate and adjust sheet metal working machines such as laser cutting, presses, plasma spray and shot blasting machines.
  • Carry out deburring, weld preparation, marking, washing, masking of all types, scraping, polishing, trimming, drilling, riveting, dent repair, spot welding and sandblasting on various parts, including correcting manufacturing defects.
  • Work from verbal instructions, manufacturing method sheets, schedules, drawings and other written instructions and make any necessary changes and adjustments to meet required dimensions.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on parts during the manufacturing process as indicated or required using various precision measuring instruments and inspection fixtures, and maintain appropriate records of parameters to ensure efficient operations with statistical process control.
  • Operate a forklift to move hydraulic press fixtures.
  • Operate and set mechanical or hydraulic presses with electronic, mechanical or manual adjustment to carry out forming, punching, deburring, cutting and shaping operations on engine parts.
  • Perform forming operations and required adjustments to compensate for material reactions and for parts in development.
  • May be required to operate multiple adjacent machines simultaneously.

Specific responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of new processes, products and rework procedures to select methods and tools.
  • Clean, preserve, package, identify and move parts while ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Retrieve required items from stores and columns and report material withdrawals and needs to the supervisor.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure, among other things, that fluid levels are adequate, filters are clean and the general condition of the machine meets the checklist. Keep equipment and work environment clean and in good condition.
  • Participate in training and share knowledge with teammates on different equipment and tasks.
  • Perform other similar tasks of equal or lesser complexity related to the functions mentioned above.
  • Report difficulties to the department supervisor.

What you need to succeed

  • Vocational diploma (DEP) in precision sheet metalwork
  • Proficiency with documentation and blueprint reading (manufacturing drawings)
  • Excellent learning ability
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills (comprehension and logic)
  • Interpersonal skills: teamwork and a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with computer systems, Windows operating system and SAP
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • This position is within a French-speaking work environment; however, a basic knowledge of English is required to understand some specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms from international organizations.
