UX/UI Designer sénior

Job Summary

The person occupying the position of senior UX/UI designer works within multidisciplinary teams (engineering, science, product and project management, etc.) and contributes to the design of solutions integrating artificial intelligence in complex and sometimes critical environments, both on exploratory innovation projects and large-scale projects aimed at integrating new functionalities within new or existing Thales products.

This person plays a key role in simplifying complexity by relying on structured approaches (e.g. user research, modeling, experience mapping) to guide decisions toward high-value solutions.

Responsible for the entire UX/UI process, the person designs products aligned with user needs and business objectives, while applying best practices related to AI design. He/she designs human-AI interactions adapted to the context of use, which are clear, efficient, and aligned with ethical principles as well as Thales standards.

Essential Functions

  • Clarify complex issues by translating technical, organizational, scientific, and business challenges into clear and value-driving requirements
  • Plan the UX/UI approach by defining approaches, deliverables, and design strategies in collaboration with the project team
  • Conduct user research activities (interviews, observations, tests, data analysis, etc.) to identify requirements based on real needs, pain points, and opportunities
  • Define user-centric product visions by aligning business objectives, technological constraints, and user expectations
  • Design experiences and interfaces (wireframes, prototypes, mockups) ensuring consistency, quality, and feasibility, and supporting development teams
  • Design and facilitate workshops according to project and organizational needs (e.g. co-creation workshops, vision workshops, etc.)
  • Support project teams in developing an understanding of design that enables them to collaboratively design solutions aligned with user and client needs
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, fostering clear, structured, and influential communication both internally and with clients
  • Contribute to the definition of product priorities by highlighting user value to guide decisions and development
  • Integrate into Agile practices by actively participating in various meetings (grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-up, review, retrospective)

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in UX/UI design, interaction design, ergonomics/human factors, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in UX/UI design, interaction design, or ergonomics
  • Excellent mastery of UX/UI methods and facilitation
  • Experience with complex systems and projects (e.g. critical systems intended for business experts)
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English

  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in product or experience design integrating artificial intelligence
  • Experience using artificial intelligence in the UX/UI design process (e.g. research analysis, interface design, etc.)
  • Experience in design for military, aeronautics, and/or aerospace projects
  • Experience in CX (Customer Experience) and service design

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Ability to travel within Canada and internationally.

This position requires a good knowledge of English for drafting technical documents, interacting with, supporting, and/or providing services to international clients, employees, and/or partners as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.

  • Mandatory portfolio: please include a portfolio showcasing at least 5 recent UX/UI projects ideally related to Thales domains. We are looking for case studies illustrating your design process, your role in the project, the artifacts produced (research, wireframes, mockups, prototypes) as well as the results obtained.
  • Candidates selected at the prescreening stage will be invited to complete a questionnaire regarding their eligibility for security program requirements and clearances required for the position. They will also need to upload their portfolio as part of this selection process step.
