What your day will look like
- Visually inspect parts before, during and after testing to detect imperfections and irregularities such as cracks, scratches, nicks, porosity, overheating and other surface or subsurface defects indicated by particle deposits, penetrant or acid effects.
- Prepare, perform fluorescent penetrant testing, rinse and dry parts prior to inspection. Inspect visually under black light or white light. Clean, demagnetize and apply corrosion protection processes as required.
- Prepare or assist in preparing chemical solutions, take samples and empty tanks as needed.
- During pressure tests and flow verification, perform required adjustments and connections, use specified fixtures, assemble parts and set gauges according to the determined pressure. Fabricate seals on fixtures when required to meet job needs.
- Evaluate non-conformities using appropriate documentation to determine acceptability. Accept parts within quality limits. When necessary, prepare, follow up and issue non-conformance notices according to the quality process, accurately describing the type, extent and location of discontinuities. Perform required computer transactions to track parts.
- Keep appropriate records of parameters to establish effective operations using statistical process control.
- Work from process requirements, procedures, verbal instructions, nondestructive testing standards, drawings and any other relevant information.
- May be required to operate multiple closely positioned machines simultaneously.
What you need to succeed
- Maintain accreditations in nondestructive testing (PT, MT, X‑Ray) and/or have relevant training in Nondestructive Testing (including anodic acid etch and anodized titanium processes).
- Level 2 certification in at least one of the above techniques is an asset.
- Interpersonal skills: teamwork and a positive attitude.
- ONGC certification is an asset.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience in an industrial environment.
- This position is within a French-speaking work environment; however, a basic knowledge of English is required to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms from international organizations.
