Chorus Aviation closes SkyCare Air Ambulance deal

Aéro Emploi

Chorus Aviation Inc. (TSX : CHR) confirmed on November 2, 2026 that it had completed its previously announced acquisition of SkyCare Air Ambulance, a Canadian operator of fixed-wing air ambulances. The transaction, first announced on October 19, was officially closed on November 1, 2026, reinforcing the Halifax based holding company's position in a high value niche of specialized aviation.

A strategic addition to the Chorus portfolio

SkyCare provides 24/7 medevac, patient repatriation, organ transport and charter services across Canada and the United States. Its clinical and logistical expertise joins an already highly diversified portfolio that includes Jazz Aviation (the main Air Canada Express partner), Voyageur Aviation, KADEX Aero Supply, Cygnet Aviation Academy and Elisen and Associates Inc.

With this acquisition, Chorus takes another step towards its strategic goal of offering services that cover the full useful life cycle of an aircraft, from reconfiguration to pilot training, including maintenance, parts distribution and now air ambulance missions.

A fast growing segment

Air ambulance services are in strong demand across Canada, where long distances, dispersed populations and pressure on hospital networks make rapid interhospital transfers essential. Integrating SkyCare will allow Chorus to tap into this trend while broadening its range of specialized services for provinces, insurers and hospitals.

For aviation workers, this consolidation opens new career opportunities. Qualified multi engine pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs), flight dispatchers and transport paramedics will now be able to grow within a group with expanded resources, offering internal mobility and ongoing training across its subsidiaries.

Chorus, a pan Canadian player

Chorus' Class A variable voting shares and Class B voting shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CHR. The company, headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, employs several thousand people across the country and remains a reference employer in Canadian regional aviation.

Management has indicated that SkyCare teams will retain their immediate operational identity to ensure the continuity of critical missions, while gradually benefiting from the group's synergies in procurement, engineering and training.

Impact on the job market

With six subsidiaries active in regional aviation, specialized charter flights, parts distribution, aerospace engineering and pilot training, Chorus is a major employment hub. Adding SkyCare should generate additional recruitment needs over the coming months, particularly for flight crews, licensed mechanics and medical mission coordinators.

This transaction is part of a broader wave of consolidation in Canadian specialized aviation, where major groups are seeking to diversify their revenue sources beyond traditional airline services.
